Kaitlyn's Count-Down

Kaitlyn, a little party-animal, enjoyed Aidan's birthday party, too, as you can see by the icing on the clothes and face and the disheveled hair. (I think I began the day with a barrette in her hair, but I can't promise it.) Anyway, I think her calling will be the official count-down girl when Aidan's space shuttle is to take off. She has learned to count...backwards! This comes from the many times we try to get the boys to clean their room or get ready for bed by counting down. So, when we ask the boys to quickly do something, or when we say a number of some kind, Kaitlyn will chime in "Ten, nine..." (She doesn't really get past 9 or maybe 8, but it's pretty cute regardless.) I must admit, I've been trying to emphasize forward counting during the last few days to make sure her backwards numbers cause a permanent stumbling block to her ultimate developmental progress. (Okay, I'm only joking. Sort of.)

And, Roy is absolutely thrilled these days to have a "Daddy's girl." The boys barely look up when Roy comes in the door at night. But, when Kaitlyn hears the door opening, she runs as fast as she can to meet him and exclaims, "Hello Daddy! Daddy, Daddy, Daddy, Daddy, Daddy..." He loves it!

Aidan is Eight!!

I can't believe Aidan has turned eight! Since he wants to be an astronaut (or, as he calls it, a "space scientist"), he celebrated his birthday this past Saturday with an "Outer Space" party. (He also wants to be a "snake scientist," but that didn't seem a very convenient theme for a birthday party. Maybe next year... HA!)

We had a great time playing games and eating foods related to that theme. Here are some pictures of his home-made cakes (Mommy and Daddy had a little TOO much fun that morning decorating the cakes), and of the party itself.
