Cotter's Catastrophes

It sure has been a while since I've posted. I guess we've all been busy with Christmas travels and such. Now that life is finally settling back to normal again, I thought I'd jump on here and blog a few funnies that have happened over the past few weeks. Once again, Cotter gets to be the main star in this show!

Apparently Cotter has been a little clumsy lately, sustaining minor injuries on multiple occasions. I'd like to think that he's just going through a growth spurt or something, but the source of his injuries is generally some form of mischief instead.

One day he was playing with scissors in the "art room" (a corner of our home office den) and received a VERY minor cut to his index finger. Immediately, he comes running to me, and, with much drama to his voice, he exclaims, "Mommy! I think this is the last day of my life!"

On another occasion, he was monkeying around on his Grammy's armchair and went over the edge, falling against a toy on his way down. This was actually a fairly dramatic fall right onto his face (see the picture above, complete with very chapped lips, too!) But, his response was classic. He came crying to Grammy saying, "Grammy! I think I damaged my head!"

Cotter has always been creative, so I guess a simple "I hurt myself" just wouldn't do.

Just today in fact Cotter came inside crying, "Daddy says I have a scarf, and it really hurts!"
"You have a scarf?" I asked.
Cotter: "Uh huh. I tried to catch the football, and it hit me in the face, so now I have a scarf."
Me: "Oh, a SCAR! You have a scar? Is that what you mean?"
Cotter: "Yeah, a scarf!"
Me: Tempted to clarify again but decided, why bother? Especially since it's not even a scar that he'll have, but more likely a bruise.
